A September 2011 review by the University of Clemson Microbiology lab showed this v-hepa air purifier performed the best when compared to other top HEPA models and the top electrostatic air purifier. The Oransi was the only purifier to effectively produce completely clean air. Independently tested to remove 100% of common allergens such as dust, pollen, mold and bacteria(1+ micron) and 99% of all particles with each air pass and in addition eliminates light odors and gases.
Designed for Small to Medium/Large Sized Rooms
Works best in rooms up to 600 sq ft (20' x 30') for the removal of airborne particles such as dust, pollen, mold, pet dander and bacteria although can be used in rooms up to 1,000 sq ft with fewer air changes. The air flow is 330 cfm on the highest fan speed setting which is at the high end for room air purifiers.
The Max purifier has three stages of filtration: a pre-filter, v-hepa filter and activated carbon filter. Each filter has a life of 12 months although the pre-filter is recommended to be cleaned (lightly vacuumed) every 3 months. Replacement filters are sold in a pack so you get all of the filters you need in one convenient box. Besides the air cleaning from the pre-filter and v-hepa filter, the carbon filter helps with light odors and gases. In addition there is a filter check/replace indicator, dust sensor, ozone safe negative ion, room air quality display and an auto mode that will control the fan speed of the air purifier depending upon the air quality in your room.
How the Max Cleans the air:
Pre-Filter - the durable pre-filter traps the larger dust particles and can be cleaned by lightly vacuuming.
HEPA Filter - the high performance v-HEPA filter traps 99% of all particles and the seal around the filter ensures that none of the air is able to bypass the filter, a common issue with air cleaners.
Activated Carbon Filter. The best type of air filter for trapping chemicals, gases, odors and cigarette smoke. The size of the carbon filter was doubled making it the best in class of air purifiers. According to Penn State Deptartment of Aero-biological researchers, carbon filters serve to remove odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and chemicals that other filters cannot.

I bought the Oransi, because of the reviews, quality and price. My wife has started working from home, and after 8 years in the house has developed an allergy to the house. The air purifier is our first step. After the first night with the Oransi, she woke up feeling better and her congestion started to clear up. Would recommend to anyone with allergies.
My Oransi V=Hepa Max is running quietly nearby as I write this review. Our household is also home to two cats that I am somewhat allergic to. Since we've had the filter ( approx 2 mo.) my wife and I have noticed we sleep better and snore less. It was a very short period of time till we noticed the effect of the unit. We also noticed less dust floating in the suns rays in the house and the air has a certain freshness as you enter our home. We have just purchased an Oransi Finn for the bedroom and moved the max downstairs. Would make the same purchase again.
I bought the v-hepa filter system about a month ago and was very happy after only one night. I was told by my doctor I may or may not see results, boy was he wrong. I was using nasal sprays and thought I would have to live with stuffy noises for life! Also I like to sleep with it on at the middle or NO# 2 setting.... about as loud as a A.C. unit at low setting. The room smells fresh too!
This review is from: Oransi v-hepa Max Air Purifier I read the reviews which said this model was really quiet but I was skeptical that it could really be _that_ quiet. So I bought one and it really is that quiet. 3 speeds. The high speed is what you would expect, it sounds like a fan. However after some experimentation the middle speed is quiet enough to sleep to and that is where I set it for bedtime. It is nice to wake up still able to breath through my nose, so very nice. The low speed however is so quiet you would have a hard time knowing it was even turned on. For example this morning I woke up and thought I could hear that the filter was on and set on the low speed but it turns out that it had actually been turned off! It works great, the air feels great and I noticed a huge difference immediately. Also the unit is not huge, it doesn't look like something you'd put in a hospital room and it fits snugly against the wall. Fantastic product.
